Away from football, I love spending time with my family here in the UK. We do lots of things together – eat out, go to the movies and do lots of cool stuff with the kids such as ten-pin bowling. I also love staying in and spending time with the family – I play a lot of FIFA with the kids which is great fun and lots of the games end up being Everton vs Australia as all of them want to play with Daddy in their team!
I have also recently developed a keen interest in golf. It is a fantastic sport and it is great to get out on a sunny afternoon and have a round with some of my team-mates. It is a great way to relax and clear my mind of the stresses and strains of football and I think I am improving my game with each round I play.
I enjoy listening to music and this is a vital part of my preparation for match-day. Music can really psyche me up and get me “in the zone” for the challenge ahead and I have certain playlists that I listen to at certain times – from chill-out music to fast-paced music to get me ready for the big games.
I am also a massive fan of cricket and I love watching the Australian team on every available opportunity, although being an Australian cricket fan in England at the moment is tough and we have plenty of banter in the changing rooms! Luckily I have my good friend Brett Lee on my side and we catch up on a regular basis to discuss what direction the side is heading in.
